13 Little Blue Envelopes: Maureen Johnson

"inside little blue envelope 1: are $1000 and instructions to buy a plane ticket.

in envelope 2: are directions to a specific London flat.

The note in Envelope: tells Ginny to find a starving artist.

Because of envelope 4: Ginny and a playwright/theif/bloke-about-town called Keith go to Scotland together, with somewhat disastrous - though utterly romantic - results. But will she ever see him again?" --- Back of book

Ginny Blackstone receives a mysterious little blue envelope with a cute drawn on number 1. It tells her to buy and plane ticket to London ASAP, but not before she travels to a run down greasy Chinese restaurant that her strange aunt Peg used to live in. When she goes there she gets a package with 12 more little blue envelopes. Each one leading her on another adventure across Europe. She meets new people, finds love, dreams big, and find herself in a new way that her aunt Peg was always trying to tell her. Everything Ginny new about herself will change because of these 13 little blue envelopes.

13 little blue envelopes is an amazing book, its very funny but can be very serious too. Maureen has done it again! But seriously read this book its amazing and eye opening.

The Sacrifice: Kathleen Benner Duble

At the peak on the Salem Witch Trials one family is threatened. Abigail is a fun loving 10-year-old girl who lives in the small town where everyone knows everyone. But can anyone be trusted? Young Abigail’s aunt Elizabeth is Accused of being a witch and I’m prison at Salem. Later Abigail and her sister are also denounced by her friend. As requested by there family they share the same cell and their aunt. They spend many weeks in the prison, surrounded by rats and sickness, there health crumbles and their aunt soon dies. That’s when her comes up with a plan for them to tell the judge that she is there teacher, because her mother is pregnant they cannot imprison her and Abigail and her sister are free to go. But at the Trial Abigail speaks up with what she believes in and brings this insanity to an end.

This is a very good book and is on my must read list. It teaches you a lot about the Salem Witch trails. I would advise this book for a book report or something like that.

13 Reasons Why: Jay Asher

Clays life changes when he gets a mysterious box from a unknown source. He opens it to find 7 tapes, with a story on each side. When he put the tapes in him Walkman he hear the voice of his good friend and the girl he was secretly crushing on, she had committed suicide months before. As he listens to the tapes he follows the map that was given to him with them. While on an emotional roller coaster he finds his true self and finds out so much about why Hannah killed herself.

Jay Asher is brilliant in this book, I’m not going to say its one of those page turners, you get in done in one day kind of book. Its so much more, you have to let everything soak in and really think about the story to really get what its about and understand. I would read one chapter and sit and think about it for at least and hour. Its not something that you can blow though and move on.

It’s an amazing story and it changes you input on life, you really start to think about your actions and the way you treat others after reading this book. I advise EVERYONE to read it, even if you don’t like reading books that are sad, or about suicide because that’s not what its all about, its like a setting, just there to serve as a background, the real story is between the lines and how you read it.
