"Sing "Happy Birthday"

Many microscopic parasites (and other germs) exsist in the air and on everyday surfaces. They get on your hands, and when you touch your mouth, eyes, or food, they take the opportunity to slip into your body. So wash you hands often, and when you do:

• a) Use warm water


• b) Use soap


• c) Sing "Happy Birthday" at a normal tempo.

Dont stop washing until you are done with the entire song. And by the way, quite rubbing your eyes so much!

If You Eat Meat, Cook It Good

A major vector of parasites is predation: one animal eating another. That's because when you eat an animal, you're exposing yourself to every parasite adapted to living inside that animal, and every parasite adapted to all the things it eats.

Meat-bourne parasites include hookworms, tapeworms, blood flukes, and more. There are zillions of them. YOur humble author is a vegatarian (for non-parasite-related reasons), but you don't have to go that far. It doesnt hurt you to eat a few worms every once in w while, as long as they're thoroughly cooked. So don't eat rare meat, and memorize this simple rhyme:

If your burger oozes red,

Send it back; them worms ain't dead."

I really enjoyed this book. Although I'm not sure if a lot of other people will. It may freak other readers out with its graphic boilogical detail. So if your really into biology (and dont have a sensative stomach) this would be a great book for you.

Whats really interesting about this book is that every other chapter is about a parasite (Toxoplasma, trematodes, plasmodium to name a few). It must have taken a lot of reasearch to come up with all of those different parasites.

It also has a sequal! called The Last Days. YAY! I havent gotten it yet (im hopsing that one of bookmooch, or paperback swap comes up) but if not soon Ill have to go to the book store and buy it, either way...

I would really like to hear what everyone else thought of it too if youve read it or are going to read it, I want to see how many people accual like the whole boilogy concept (I know I did!)

I read Wake and fell in love with it. Its characters are so well put together and I give very high praise to Lisa for her amazing creativity and imagination. I expact the same from Fade and I cant wait to get it in my hands. Expect a full review soon!

Maureen Johnson is a inspiring, funny author that is touching the hearts of many your readers of today. She is personally one of my favorite authors. This book is full of funny irony and twist and turns on every page. Scarlett is a well thought up character that anyone can feel an attachment to, along with every other character.

Hello world

Hey everyone!

Grr, I'm so mad at myself for not keeping up with the blog. Ive just been so busy and this week is finals week and I'm super stressed. So I'm sorry for not posting anything for a while.

Second (i know its a little late but...) I hope everyone had a good thanksgiving. I did! i got to spent the day in Kansas City at my uncles house with tones of great food lol. I also want to mish everyone a Merry Christmas, hope everyone is getting their holiday shopping done, because im starting to get stressed about what im getting everyone.

At the moment I and reading a biography about Anne Frank for my highschool english class, I so stressed about that because its due friday and Ive only made a dent in it so far : (. As soon as I get it done I will try to post a reciew about it. Its a very good book and im learning a lot about the beginning of WWII.

But...ONLY ONE MORE WEEK OF SCHOOL! yay! I'm so happy! cant wait till I can accually sleep in for more that 1 day. And to see all my family that I havent seen in forecer will be great too.

Wake is an awsome book and in a way kinda weird one. I pulled it off the shelf thinking it was going to be this totally awsome kick butt book, but it wasnt quite that. It was a really good, you will be on your seat clear till the end wondering what crazy thing Lisa will have Janie do next. Totally cool i recommend it all the way!
